FOOD STORAGE

When food had been processed it had to be stored or sold. Most food had to be kept in cool, dry places.

Some was wrapped in cloth or stored in safes with perforated metal sides to keep flies off.

Some food was kept in racks (bread car - clwyd fara) that were hung from the ceiling to keep mice and rats from getting to it.

Some meat was stored over the fire.

Some foods such as jams and pickled food had to be kept in air-tight containers.
