HARVESTING

harvesting, about 1910 (2)

exhibition number: Agriculture 5

Hay was harvested in July, corn in August and September, potatoes at the end of Autumn.

The Welsh word for reaping is medi - which is also used for September when much of the reaping was done.

Farmers helped each other during the hay harvest, but depended on an agreement with cottage families to gather in the corn harvest (dyled gwaith, dyled cynhaeaf or duty tatw).
