Community map, designed by Roy Marsden, made by the West Wales Marquetry Group

By tradition this county was named after Ceredig, one of the seven sons of Cunedda who lived during the Dark Ages (A.D.400-800). For many years it was known as Cardiganshire.

Agriculture has always been the most important industry in Ceredigion. The others were seafaring, lead mining and tourism.
